The heart, which is 3.5 meters high, 3.5 meters wide, and 2.2 meters deep, was transported to Łódź on a low-loader semi-trailer after traveling 12,000 nautical miles from the Chinese Tianjin near Beijing on the Mayview Maersk, one of the largest container ships in the world.
The heart is made of polished sheet metal, which gives it a mirror-like appearance, and is mounted with special anchor bolts to appear as if it is growing out of the ground.
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, for which the heart is a symbol, has 55 places in Poland named after it, three of which are in Łódź. These include a square, a mural at the Dormitory No. 7 of the University of Łódź, and the Central Laboratory of Genetic Research in Children's Oncology ONCOLAB.
