The street's name comes from the surname "Krupa" and the clearing called "Krupówki" located at its upper part. Krupówki used to connect the old center of the village of Zakopane with the blacksmith's manor. Nowadays, after losing its transportation function, Krupówki has become an important commercial, service, and administrative center. The unattractive and styleless architecture has recently been enriched with pseudo-art nouveau curved lanterns, and the post-communist asphalt has been replaced with variously laid cobblestones. Krupówki is currently just over a kilometer long.

This is where elegant restaurants serving regional cuisine, as well as exquisite dishes, can be found. There are also cozy pubs, shops, and institutions. It's always possible to come across stalls with oscypek (traditional smoked cheese) and Zakopane souvenirs in this area.
