Strong Man Statue
Brzozowa 1, 00-258, Warsaw, Poland
The sculpture "The Strongman," made of bronze, was created by the sculptor Stanisław Czarnowski (1872-1919) and was unveiled in 1908. The artist received recognition for this work at the Paris Salon, where it was exhibited the same year. He was also awarded a prize by the Academy in Petersburg and received an award in the Kuindzhi competition.

Monument

The sculpture has stood in the same location for many years, on the viewing terrace of Gnojna Hill, behind the Warsaw Old Town, overlooking the Vistula River. However, there is also information that it was stored in the warehouses of the National Museum in Warsaw and returned to its original place on the slope in 2004.

This monument was also known by slightly different names such as "Get Out of the Way" or "Out of the Way." It depicts a strongman resembling ancient sculptures, lifting a boulder beside his head. The sculpture conveys a sense of dynamism and effort.

Over the years, various workshops have produced many miniatures of "The Strongman," including those signed by Czarnowski himself. One of the most well-known bronze casters during the post-war period was Władysław Miecznik (1903-1989), who specialized in creating bronze sculptures and miniatures of famous monuments.
